WHAT IS AMAZONITE?

Amazonite, also known as Amazonstone, is a lush green mineral derived from potassium-rich igneous feldspars. Feldspars are a group of rock-forming minerals that crystallize from magma and are largely present in exclusive types of metamorphic rock. Used as a semi-precious gemstone, Amazonite has been described as a stunning crystallized variety of lively green and blue colors.

HOW IS AMAZONITE FORMED?

Amazonite typically occurs within granitic rocks that are found in various places around the globe. Crystallizing from magma, many people believed that the lush blue and green coloring in Amazonite was due to copper compounds found within the mineral. It has since been recognized that the color in Amazonite is actually due to water and iron combined with other compounds within the feldspar.
